Lebih omputih dari omputih

Yes, English is my second language. I don't feel ashamed to admit it. I was born as a Malay. My parents grew me up in Malay culture and we conversed mostly in Malay. But, inevitably has to mention that my Abah encouraged us (including my sisters) to practice English in daily conversation.

Generally speaking, some people loves to judge our competency in conversing English. Worse, when that judgement becomes the weapon of character assassination against us. They might throw their inappropriate silly judgement straight onto your face while we are arguing about topic that has nothing to do with language syntax and English grammar. Annoyingly, the judges are among Malays ourselves.

Truthfully, English people never done such things towards people who aren't speaking English as their first language. If they have to correct you, they'll do it politely such as reconfirming our statement by repeating our sentence with corrections. You guys who have experienced living in English-speaking countries must agree with me.

Don't get me wrong that I'm against improvements and advices. But what I'm telling you especially to Malays and non-English dudes that "Do not become MORE ENGLISH than the English".
